Choosing a Good Diabetic Meal Plan


Choosing a good diabetic meal plan won’t be that difficult a task for you thanks to the diabetic meal plan given here. A proper diabetic meal plan is extremely necessary for those who are suffering from diabetes to keep their blood sugar levels under control. The following diabetic meal plan will give you 1600 calories of energy and you will consume only 220 gm of carbohydrates. And along with this diabetic meal plan, you also have to wash down your food with 16 glasses of water daily. Drink water with your meals.
Diabetic meal plan – breakfast
This will give you a burst of 360 calories of energy while you will consume only 52.5 gm of carbs. Your breakfast should consist of half portion of a small banana; half cup doubled skimmed milk, half cup oatmeal, one fourth cup cottage cheese or egg substitute and a slice of brown bread or whole wheat bread with a teaspoon of margarine.
Diabetic meal plan – lunch
You will gain 535 calories and consume 75 gm of carbs. Your lunch should consist of one small apple, a cup of vegetable soup along with four to six crackers or crispy bread and a turkey sandwich.  You can make this turkey sandwich with a table spoon of mayonnaise, an ounce of low fat cheese, an ounce of turkey covered with 2 slices of brown bread or whole wheat bread. You may even replace apple with any kind of citrus fruit of your choice, but you can’t eat mangoes.
Diabetic meal plan – supper
This will fortify you with 65 gm of carbs and 635 calories. Your supper should consist of a small slice of fruit cake or angel food cake; 4 halves of unsweetened canned apricot; a fruit salad or a vegetable tossed salad garnished with a couple of table spoons of low fat salad dressing; a dinner roll made of brown bread or whole wheat product and you can add a tea spoon of margarine to improve the taste. You will also consume half a cup of cooked carrots, two third cup of cooked brown rice and four ounces of broiled chicken breast garnished with oregano and basil on top.
